Concept inspiration

Here are some inspirational architecture images for my concept for the honours degree project. The building I'm designing is going to be a Lower Secondary School in Oslo, Norway.

My concept is cohesion which represents the "glue" that connects people. Learning, social, teamwork, development and friends are keywords that lead to the concept of cohesion.

The architecture in the images are mainly Zaha Hadid's design. I believe the fluid architecture represents the ideology behind the concept of cohesion.

3Dmax renders

Here are a few 3d renders I have done in class today. The renders are external views of the existing building I have chosen for my honours degree project. The building is located along the Aker river in Oslo, Norway. These are not finished renders but it's as far as I have come at this point. I'm slowly but surely getting there. These finished renders are due for hand up next week.

Design Theory post 2

The building shape creates a space underneath the building.

The image illustrates contrast between textures in the interior.

The monochromatic colour scheme and the repetition of the square shape in the room creates unity. The light and dark shades of grey along with the use of light illustrates the element of value.

This image illustrates balance. The two curves are not completely symmetric but are balancing each other.

This image illustrates proportion. The coloured shapes are usually seen much smaller in a computer game.

This image illustrates Rhythm in the use of line and colour. The lines together creates a shape.

Design Theory

The Mini Project Ideology.

In the mini project I converted 4 apartmens in Dolphin's Barn social housing complex in Dublin into a living unit for 4 troubled youths and a live-in supervisor. The troubled teenagers in my brief suffered from learning/concentration problems due to experiences growing up. They have fallen behind in school and are acting out getting themselves into trouble because of this.

My ideology was to create a safe, positive and inspiring learning environment in this apartment. My design was inspired by mountains. I wasted the design to help the youth grow and learn and inspire them to reach for something. I wanted the teenagers to feel safe and inspired to learn in the apartment I designed for them.

My Bachelor degree project

I thought i should put up last year's final project. I designed a hostel for the homeless.

The existing building is the Rathmines post office in Dublin 6.

My concept for this project was the game Tetris.

Mini Project presented

Our first project of the year has
been a mini project where we had
to convert 4 apartmens in Dolphin's Barn social housing complex in Dublin into a living unit for 4 troubled youths and a live-in supervisor. The project is now finished and presented on Tuesday to my class and lectures.
